MEET THE FOUNDER

As a trauma therapist and advocate for mental health equity, I am committed to providing culturally sensitive care. My work is centered on the destigmatization of mental health and creating an environment where individuals feel seen, respected, and empowered.

After obtaining my undergraduate degree in psychology, I knew I wanted to further my education in mental health due to the noted mental health disparities in my community.

Therapy for Us was created to make therapy more accessible by addressing systematic barriers, showcasing representation, and providing psycho education to highlight the importance of mental health.

Historically, therapy has been geared to one demographic and class which has silenced marginalized voices and communities.

Therapy for Us is dedicated to not only your healing journey, but to ensure your voice is heard.

Samiah Green, MA, LPC

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of New Haven with educational training in evidence-based practices that support emotional well-being, personal growth, and meaningful change. My work is grounded in a person-centered and culturally responsive approaches, honoring each client’s identity, lived experience, and unique story.

I am a trauma informed therapist and aid in helping clients process and heal from experiences such as childhood trauma, generational, relational wounds, cultural or identity-based trauma, and difficult life transitions. My other focuses include depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem issues, adjustment issues, and college and work-related stressors.

I believe that one size does not fit all when it comes to healing. Everyone’s journey is different, and so are their needs. Together, we will explore what feels most supportive and effective for you. My role is to meet you exactly where you are, creating a space that is safe, affirming, and free of judgment. My approach to therapy utilizes a combination of different theories. Primarily, I use techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectal behavior therapy and person-centered therapy.

In our sessions we will work collaboratively towards your goals at a pace the feels right. I look forward to the opportunity of aiding in your healing journey.
